La sociedad fue fundada por Doña Blavatsky y Col. Olott en los EE.UU, y más tarde se mudó aquí en 1882. Aparte de los santuarios de todas las fes y el tranquilo Jardín de Recuerdos, hay una biblioteca de 95 años que tiene una muy buena colección de raros manuscritos orientales escritos en hojas de palmera y pergamino.
