La Reserva Natural Shendurney

Description:
Establecida en 1984, la Reserva Natural Shendurney situada en los dos lados del Río Shendurney es el único en el distrito Kollam. La Reserva Natural cubre una área total de 250 km. cuad. Y tiene renombre mundial por su bio-diversidad. El dique Parappar ha sido construido sobre el Río Shendurney y sirve para la irrigación en los distritos de Kollam y Pathanamthitta. El lago cubre una área total de 13.72 km. cuad.
La temperatura mediana durante veranos es de 35 centígrados y durante inviernos es alrededor de 16 centígrados, con la lluvia anual de aproximadamente 3200 mm. El terreno aquí es rocoso con laderas que varían desde 90m hasta 1550m.
