El Templo Shankaracharya

El templo Shankaracharya es uno de los más antiguos templos en el valle de Srinagar. Situado en la colina justo al otro lado del Lago Dal, este bonito anciano templo está dedicado al Señor Shiva. El anterior nombre del templo era Gopadri. Sólo cuando el Shankaracharya vino para vivir allí, hace algunos diez siglos para resucitar al Sanatan Dharma que el nombre de este templo fue cambiado al templo Shankaracharya. Se dice que el anterior templo fue construido por el rey Gopaditya de la dinastía Maurya en 2,500 B.C. El bonito templo tiene una magnífica y bonita vista desde arriba de la montaña del valle, del pueblo de Srinagar, los pueblos que están cercanos y las montañas alrededor.
