PALACE HOTEL-Bikaner House, MOUNT ABU

Mt. Abu being Rajasthan’s only hill station was the perfect summer residence for many Royal families who holidayed there to escape the severe heat that engulfed the desert region during the summer months. Bikaner House was the summer residence of the Royal Family of Bikaner built by Maharaja Ganga Singhji of Bikaner in 1893. The Palace Hotel as it is now called, was converted into a hotel in 1962 and is today a classified ‘Heritage Hotel.

Palace hotel, once it was the royal hunting lodge of the Maharaja. Now this palace is converted into a heritage hotel. Staying there is really a royal experience.

Located in the southern part of Rajasthan, bordering Gujrat, it is most easily accessed by road and rail. The nearest train station is Abu Road train station which is 21 kms away, situated at the foot of the mountains. It is directly connected by trains between Mumbai (Bombay) and Delhi, therefore no change of train is necessary. The nearest airports are Ahmadabad ( 240 kms ) and Udaipur ( 210 kms ). The drive to Mount Abu from these airports is smooth and comfortable if you choose flying as your option.


The property is a piece of history trapped in time and exudes an ambience of old world charm, warmth and hospitability. These are the very qualities that you will find in the well appointed rooms and suites. Each of the 33 rooms are unique and have all the modern amenities to make your stay very comfortable.
In an effort to maintain the history and heritage of the property, the dining experience has also been tailored to reflect a time gone by. A traditional meal native to the region or traditional Indian food or perhaps Continental fare, are all carefully prepared to stimulate the palate. A meal in the large ornate dining room which has played host to many dignitaries and visiting heads of state in the past add to the overall experience. The bar is a popular watering hole in the evenings where one can relax with friends and family.

There are two tennis courts in a marvelous hillside setting. Along with tennis, on offer are billiards, table tennis and a selection of board games. There is a large conference hall with requisite facilities which can accommodate upto 150 delegates. Corporate houses send their teams to the property, as the peaceful environment proves most beneficial to productive ideas to help businesses grow.
It would not do justice to sum up briefly the mix of tangible and intangible experiences, they are best experienced by oneself. However, one can expect to fully experience the peace and tranquility of the property with a profusion of nature to refresh the senses.
