Jungle Retreat is a family run resort; a mixture of wilderness, serenity and comfort and appreciated by travelers from across the world.

We, the Mathias family, have lived on a plantation for many years in close proximity to the jungles of Tamil Nadu. Jungle Retreat was born of our family's close bond with the wilderness. Jungle Retreat is located at the foothills of the Nilgiris, skirting the Mudumalai Wildlife Sanctuary & National Park in Tamil Nadu.

We've come a long way since the beginnings 12 years ago. We offer accommodation in country style cottages with sprawling private verandahs that afford spectacular views of receding mountains and tropical jungles.

We conduct a variety of activities, and advise our guests to decide on an activity after meeting with our activities in-charge upon arrival at the resort. This way guests have a better feel for the place and can make an informed choice of what they'd like to do. Also, charges vary across activities and according to variables such as how many people share a jeep and so on. Any activities that you should choose to participate in by way of treks and safaris shall be at an additional cost to the room and food.

We are a family run resort, catering to families, couples and mixed-gender groups. Consequently, we subscribe to a very strict policy of not accepting groups with less than 40% ladies. Corporate Bookings are again not accepted unless strict guidelines, provided by us, are followed, as we have had untoward incidents in the past, which we would like to avoid.

The twelve deluxe cottages have hot & cold water, bathtubs and showers. Campsites are completely under thatch and on a raised terrace with full bathrooms also with tubs, hot and cold water and changing/ locker facilities. Other amenities include multi-cuisine restaurant, laundry, money-changer and room service. Credit cards accepted.
