Situado a unos 40 km norte de Thiruvananthapuram al lado de la costa del mar, Anjuthengu (Anjengo) es un sitio de importancia histórica. Era aquí que el primer asentamiento del East India Company de los ingleses fue establecido en 1864 A.D. Según la gente local, un área limitada donde había cinco palmeras de coco (Anjuthengu - Anjengo) estaba dado en usufructo a la compañía por el príncipe gobernador de aquel entonces de Travancore para fines de comercio. Los restos del antiguo Fuerte Inglés, que había aguantado muchos sitios, se puede verlo allí incluso hasta la fecha.
