Según la mitología, el Señor Krishna mató a su tío materno Kansa en Mathura cuando todavía era joven. Kansa era un hombre malvado quien había encarcelado a los padres de Krishna y a su abuelo además de torturar a sus vasallos. Después de matar a este hombre malvado Krishna vino y se descansó en este sitio en las orillas del Río Yamuna. Por eso a este sitio se llama como el Vishram Ghat o el sitio para descansar.
