Description:
Anteriormente conocido como Fedricnagar, Srirampur era el centro de la actividad misionero desde 1793 hasta 1834. A apenas 25 km desde Kolkata, tiene lugar importante sitio en la historia de Bengala. Era un asentamiento danés hasta que fue tomado por el East India Company en 1845. La casa del Gobernador danés, la Iglesia Católica Romanay la Iglesia San Olaf todavía se preservan allí. También hay un museo en Srirampur College con exhibiciones de los misioneros, Dr Williams Carey, Ward y Marshman y sobre sus actividades.
Otros sitios interesantes en Hooghly son el Sabujdweep, que quiere decir la isla verde, 75 km desde Kolkata y Chandananagor, un asentamiento bien planificado de los franceses.
