El Templo Sri Ekambaranathar está dedicado a Shiva y es uno de los más grandes templos en Kanchipuram. El templo tiene una extensión de nueve hectáreas. Se dice que el nombre del templo ha sido modificado de Eka Amra Nathar- el Señor del árbol de mango – y dentro del recinto del tempo hay un viejo árbol de mango, con cuatro ramas que representan los cuatro Vedas. La fruta de cada una de las cuatro ramas se dice que tiene un sabor distinto propio. Además se dicen que tiene más de 3,500 años.
