A una altura de 1850 metros arriba nivel del mar en la cabeza del barranco Hulikal, Coonoor es el segundo sitio montañoso más grande situado en las colinas Nilgiri. Situado en la parte oeste del estado de Tamil Nadu, apenas está a 20 kms del famoso lugar montañoso Ooty.Descripción: Este pequeño pueblo de fincas de té del estado sur de Tamil Nadu es uno de los sitios montañosos más importantes del sur. Su proximidad a las colinas Nilgiri y su ubicación en la cordillera Deodatta ha dotado este lugar con un clima agradable, que ayuda en crecer una verde tremenda y fomenta que crezcan rododendros. Por eso Coonoor ofrece un desafío a su vecino, el mundialmente conocido lugar montañoso Ooty. Hoy un gran número de turistas vienen a este lugar en búsqueda de la belleza no tocada de este magnífico sitio, que Coonoor ofrece.

The climate in Coonoor is pleasant throughout the year and hence can be visited through out the year.

This small tea garden town of the southern state of Tamilnadu is fast becoming one of the major hill stations of the south. Its proximity to the nearby Nilgiri Hills and its location in the Deodatta range has blessed this place with a soothing weather, helping the beautiful green meadows and the wonderful Rhodendrons to grow. Coonoor therefore is giving a stiff competition to its neighbour, the world famous hill station of Ooty. Today a major number of tourists frequent this place in search of unexplored beauty of the hill station, which Coonoor has in plenty to offer.
