Naggar, a 26 kms desde Kullu era la anterior capital de este lugar por casi 1400 años. El castillo Naggar que se preserva todavía como testimonio mudo a su glorioso pasado ha sido convertido en un hotel hoy. Fue fundado por Raja Visudhpal y seguía siendo la sede del estado hasta que se mudó la capital a Sultanpur (Kullu) por Jagat Singh. El bonito castillo de aquí fue construido por el Raja Sidh Singh de Kullu alrededor de 1460 A.D. y tiene una extensiva vista del valle y del Río Beas. Hay muchos templos situados en la vecindad notablemente entre los cuales son los templos dedicados al Señor Vishnu y el Señor Krishna.
