Manapad situado a unos 70 km desde Tirunelveli y 18 km sur de Tiruchendur, es predominantemente un pueblo costal de los Católicos Romanos. Es uno de los primeros sitios a ser visitado por el St. Francis Xavier en 1542 cuando inició la actividad misionaria en la costa Fishery. Se dice que él vivía y veneraba en una cueva en el lado del mar de un acantilado. La Iglesia Holy Cross muy cerca al mar fue construida en el año 1581. Esta iglesia tiene lo que se cree que es un fragmento de la verdadera cruz de Jerusalem. Miles congregan durante la época festival desde el 1 hasta 14 de setiembre cada año cuando se expone públicamente a la cruz.
