Kumarakovil está en las laderas de la colina Velimalai en Kalkulam Taluk (también deletreado como Taluka), alrededor de 34-km desde Kannyakumari. El Templo del Señor Muruga está construido en la colina alrededor de una altura de 200 pies en un campo verdoso de arrozal, árboles de plátano y de coco. El templo tiene renombre por su belleza arquitectural. Al lado del Señor también hay un ídolo de la diosa Valli, la esposa del Señor Subramuchosa en el templo. Al lado derecha del templo hay un gran lago, apto para pasar en barco.
