Un pequeño pueblo medieval a unos 230 kms de Gwalior, era una ruta importante comercial entres las regiones Malwa y Bundelkhand. También estaba estratégicamente situado entre las mesetas del norte y el Deccan y por eso era un estado próspero en la época medieval. Hoy no tiene nada más que las ruinas del pasado. Actualmente Chanderi tiene fama para los saris bonitos tejidos de seda y algodón con maravillosas diseños y combinaciones de colores estupendas. La única razón para visitar este sitio es comprar los saris Chanderi.
