A 19 km desde Shimoga en las orillas del río Bhadra, está el Pueblo de Acera de Bhadravati. Era aquí que la primera Fábrica de hierro y acero controlada por el Estado fue empezado en 1923 además de una fábrica de papel en 1936.
El Visveswaraya Iron and Steel Limited y el Mysore Paper Mills ofrecen una fascinante vista de los complicados procesos que se emprenden en la fabricación de hierro, acero y papel.
En el centro del antiguo pueblo hay un templo de Lakshminarasimha del siglo 13 que pertenece al período Hoysala y tiene, además de otros imágenes, un exquisito ídolo de Ganapathi que tiene altura de 0.92 metros.
