Templo Baneshwar

Description:
Situado a una distancia de casi 10 km norte del pueblo Coochbehar, es un templo anciano dedicado al Señor Shiva, conocido como el templo Baneshwar. El templo tiene fama de remontar hasta 1100 B.C. y tiene un Shiva lingam 10 pies debajo del nivel del zócalo. Al lado del templo principal hay otro templo que tiene el ídolo de Ardhanarinateswar. En las ocasiones de Madan Chaturdashi y Dol Purnima se lleva este ídolo temperadamente al Templo Madan Mohan del pueblo Coochbehar, que ha sido dado el nombre de Movible Baneshwar. Hay un enorme lago dentro del recinto de templo que tiene un gran número de tortugas. Algunas de las tortugas son muy viejos y grandes en tamaño y se dan de comer arroz.
